Bheki Mlangeni Memorial Scholarship

Bheki Mlangeni, a colleague and friend, was assassinated on 15 February 1991 in an explosion triggered by a booby-trapped cassette player manufactured and dispatched by  the Vlakplaas Unit of the then South African Police.

Each year, in honour of Bheki, the firm offers bursaries to aspiring LLB students. The bursaries are awarded on an annual basis to deserving final year LLB students who:

  • are black;
  • have demonstrated excellence in constitutional, labour or administrative law; and
  • have demonstrated a commitment to use their legal qualification to advance the cause of social justice.

The bursary covers tuition fees and the cost of the student’s prescribed text-books to a limited value, and will require the student to work at the firm for a limited vacation period during the year to gain practical exposure to the firm’s clients and our various areas of practice.

Please note that there are only a limited number of bursaries available.
