Riona Kalua has litigation experience in all aspects of labour law in the CCMA, various bargaining councils, and the Labour Courts. Riona also specialises in pension fund law, contract and commercial law. Her general commercial and civil work includes drafting and advising on different types of agreements (employment contracts, confidentiality agreements and deeds of trust) memoranda and articles of association and furnishing opinions to clients on these and many aspects of civil work such as defamation and various claims for damages and/or compensation. Riona advises a wide range of clients, including trade unions, non-governmental organisations, trusts, corporations, government departments at national, provincial and local level, and statutory bodies.
She received a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Kwazulu Natal (Durban) in 2003 and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Business Law at the University of Kwazulu Natal (Durban) in 2005.
